CALL TO ACTION: TEACHER HEALTH INSURANCE
We are at the crossroads on health insurance for Texas teachers. Frustrated
over funding issues, the House Select Committee on Teacher Health Insurance
Chair Paul Sadler says he needs direction from the state leadership on where
to go with the issue.  His committee reached a stalemate Monday night, after
three hours of grappling with the funding issue.
The Senate Finance Committee voted on the education section of the budget
bill last week, but did not include any money to pay for teacher health
insurance.
ACTION NEEDED:
Call Governor Perry and Lt. Gov. Bill Ratliff to let them know that Texas
can only attracting and keeping good teachers if we offer them quality
health insurance.
Ask for legislation that:
· Fully funds health insurance for all current and retired teachers
· Covers half the cost of dependent coverage
Governor Rick Perry:  463-1782 in Austin, elsewhere.
Lt. Governor Bill Ratliff:  .
